Michael Gotthardt, RP
Registered Psychotherapist
Registered Member, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
Member, Canadian Association of Psychodynamic Therapy
During the 1970s and 1980s, I worked at various occupations including a carpenter's apprentice and historical researcher, before completing an honours B.A. in Humanities and Psychoanalytic Thought at the University of Toronto.
In the early 1990s I began my training at the Center for Training in Psychotherapy (CTP). Upon graduating from the CTP, I have continued my own therapy as a part of my professional development. It was during my supervision at the CTP when I joined the Spadina Therapy Centre and began seeing clients. After twenty years my practice continues to inform and enrich my life. I am a member of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy (CAPT).
While my approach to therapy is psychoanalytically-based and informed by the British object relations school (Winnicott, Guntrip, Fairbarin, Klein), I approach dream analysis from a Jungian perspective. As seriously as I take psychotherapy, I strongly believe in the healing powers of humour. In addition to being a psychotherapist, I am a husband and a father.
